I've been going through a little tiff with my new next door neighbor...

Having disagreements, with your neighbors, is never fun because they live right next door to you. I've been a little stressed out about how to squash this with her but she beat me to the punch.

note from Laura and some yummy Cabernet
My neighbor left this card and bottle of wine right by my front door....PEACE OFFERING!!!

Inside the card(peep the custom card with her name on it), she left her contact info so that I can reach her when needed and her apologies for all the noise she has been making lately. She said she had no clue. Sometimes our neighbors need friendly reminders that they are disturbing you because they might not be aware of it.

delicious savory corn muffins
The next day I made these delicious savory corn muffins for Laura. I wanted to show her that I wanted to start over too. I knocked on her door to properly introduced myself and to give her my peace offering.

follow directions on box and add some corn salsa!
When she answered the door she was so happy! We made up! Life is good again and now there is an open line of communication.

Life lesson... :)

I love Korean food!

When I'm having a bad day it makes me feel better and when I am having a good day, it's my cherry on top. Korean food is my comfort food, my meat and potatoes.
Of course, I can't remember every Korean recipe, so I either call my mom or visit www.maangchi.com.

Maangchi is the Rachel Ray of Korean food and I reference her website whenever I am cooking Korean at home. She makes videos and walks you along the whole process.

Recently, in the Bay Area, it has been pretty cold with lots of rainy days. It is the perfect weather for soup making and why not Korean soups instead of the good ol' tomato soup. Here are a few of the classics...

Soybean Sprout Soup, Kongnamulguk, 콩나물국

Kongnamulguk is an everyday Korean soup. It is super good, easy and simple, add a scoop of rice and eat it with kimchi on the side. (that is how I do it)
Seaplant Soup, Miyukguk, 미역국

My mom made this soup for me every year on my birthday. Traditionally, Miyukguk is made on birthdays and for women who have just given birth.

"Miyuk is known to be rich in iodine and calcium and considered as food that helps lower cholesterol in your body."

I would add a scoop of rice to this one too, kimchi on the side. :)
Kimchi Soup, Kimchi Jigae, 김치찌개

Kimchi Jigae is another classic soup, my mom would slices of hotdogs instead of pork belly. My sister and I would fight over who had more pieces of hotdogs in their soup, to make sure we were even.

Of course, add rice if you want... :)
I hope these soups will warm you up on a cold day or cheer you up when you need cheering up.

Where are all the brown girls who love thrifting and vintage?

I am really excited about this post because it is part 1 of a continuing interest of mine. I spend hours researching vintage blogs so that I can find women who look like me that love vintage and thrifting. Almost 95% of the blogs I find have white women doing outfit posts and talking about and showcasing their love of vintage. There isn't anything wrong with that I am just looking for more variety. I want to see different point of views. I think that history shows that people of color have different fashion point of views. I am interested in that!!!

Where are all the brown girls who love thrifting and vintage?

Here are just a few of my favorites that I have discovered, please stay tuned for more exciting women of color who adore thrifting and vintage.
